Sarah Slater

Australian trumpeter Sarah Slater is Professor for Trumpet, Brass Chamber music and Pedagogy at the Institut für Music, Hochschule Osnabrück.

Her current research and performance project “hear her” brings attention to works for trumpet and brass by female composers of the past and present.  

From 2012-2019 Sarah worked alongside Reinhold Friedrich at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe as his assistant teacher as well as teaching at the Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen in 2016 and 2017. Sarah has been a member of the international brass ensemble WorldBrass since 2012 as well as performing with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Deutschekammerphilharmonie Bremen, Lucerne Festival Brass, NDR Radiophiharmonie Hannover and the Radio Symphony Orchestera Berlin. 2005-2007 she was Academist and then on contract at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and 2009 Essener Philharmoniker.

Sarah studied modern trumpet with Reinhold Friedrich, Laura Vukobratovic and Klaus Bräker as well as Natural Trumpet with Edward H Tarr.

Sarah has 2 daughters Lulama and Adesuwa.
