Hornet Quartet

The idea of creating the quartet was born out of friendship, sharing musical experiences and similar artistic aspirations, but above all out of love for music and the French horn. The soloists of the leading symphony orchestras in Poland – Gabriel Czopka, Michał Szczerba, Łukasz Łacny and Piotr Kowalski – have been playing together since 2009, constantly improving the artistry of team interpretation and uniform sound. The Hornet Quartet’s repertoire includes mainly works of contemporary music originally composed for a horn quartet. The ensemble premiered a number of works by composers, including Kazimierz Machala, Jan Stokłosa and Paweł Pudło, with whom he created the international and unique War Horns project. Participants in the project included: Stefan de Leval Jezierski (Berliner Philharmoniker, Luca Benucci (Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino), David Bonet Piris (Orquestra Sinfonica de Barcelona), Alexandru Afanasiev (Mariinsky Theater Saint Petersburg). Their common passion for taking on new challenges and crossing established boundaries allows them to for constantly expanding musical horizons and opening up to an innovative, avant-garde approach to chamber music.

(…) is an excellent ensemble presenting great technique, powerful sound and a great sense of style. I was very impressed with the musicality and passionate expression without the unnecessary acting that is often seen in similar bands. Their artistry and passion come directly from the game.
